Some new videos..yeahhh

So recently I performed another set at the Hollywood Improv on Melrose here in LA. It went really well. It was a 5 min set but they let it go longer because the crowd was into it. I feel very encouraged by this and am looking to really do some more stuff.

BUT I wanted to post the link right now b/c I don't have the copy quite yet of the video. The quality will be a little bit less than desired but that's life, right...a less than desired?

O.k.

Other videos can be see at HERE

Also I recently had my reel cut together. That's like a visual resume and is pretty much necessary out here. It's only got a few projects on it but it's a start. It's on my website so I'll link you over to that and on the top it says "reel"....so that's what you click on.

...um gross?...

Nope.

Yesterday as I was shopping in that quasi-trendy, therefore very trendy, and wonderful discount shopping place called Trader Joe's (really love that place) I came across a classic TJ item. Something different and off the beaten path that really caught my eye: drinkable aloe juice.

A company has created this bottle delight with REAL bits of (panther) Aloe, lemon juice and organic raw sugar.

It was surprisingly refreshing and I will be purchasing more. Look for them in strange places like that weird smoke shop you walk past going to work or shady convenience store.

Yummy.

LOL/other career news

So I'm also taking a class right now that's a 5-week class taught by a casting director who also books comedy shows and performs herself. It's been a great experience and I've met some cool people. I'm hopeful this will be a meaningful thing for my career. I've learned about my 'voice' and 'vibe' and how to use that to tweak and strengthen my stand-up abilities.

Our main project culminates April 23rd at 7:30 at the Hollywood Improv. I'm really excited about this b/c the show is almost already sold out and this casting director has lots of industry contacts so they will be there and this could be a nice push for me to get back on the mic from my performance in December. So be thinking about me next Wed while I'm on stage.

ALSO I finally have the footage I needed for my reel so a great friend of mine is putting that together and I'll have my reel (a visual resume) on my website and update that and of course put it on here too so check back.

I have recently moved into Advanced level at my school which has been great. I am working more on scenes, just finished about 4 weeks working on accents and a characterization from that which was grand. I am working with people I really enjoy and learning tons still.

I've had some great auditions recently and even talked with the theatrical agent of the agency where I am represented commercially (for commercials) b/c I had gotten a call-back (they liked me enough to pass me onto the next round) for a series of short films. Maybe that could lead to being picked up by them theatrically too (meaning t.v. and film).

I'm in the process of writing a short film and who knows where that will lead.

I'm also setting my sites on meeting a certain casting director named Allison Jones who is supposed to be a great person in general but also has cast many many comedies from Freaks and Geeks to The Office, some Will Ferrell projects and alot of Jud Apatow's stuff (Knocked Up and Super Bad).

That's pretty much the industry news I have for you guys at this time.

I'm keepin on keepin on. Thanks for your support. It's vital and necessary...isn't that the same thing? Oh well.

much love and keep checking back for new projects

Well according to a Jay-Z loop, "I'm a hustla homie, you's a customer cronnie."

Yeah, I'm starting a personal chef/catering business. It's small right now and really has only gotten the website off the ground and gaining some attention with a few friends and my church. My hope is that I will have a few families a week and a few parties a month to make some extra cash.

I'm looking into all the certs and stuff I have to get but right now it's basically a guy who loves to cook and wants to make some money doing it.

So check out my website and if you are in the LA area, by all means, spread it around. I might even have a connection with a girl who has a small baking business and would team up to provide a nice one-two!

That's new for me.

Clueless about comedy

So the day after I had the chance to say hello to Melora Hardin at the restaurant I had a "party in the lobby" and in that group of 8 with two kids was Mr. Paul Rudd.

I'm a big fan of Mr. Rudd. I won't say everything he's done has been great but even Al Pacino has done some stupid movies sooooo I'll cut him some slack.

He too was very nice but I didn't really spend much time chatting with him. He was very funny with the two kids (about 1 years old) and played a fake guitar to appease one while in their stroller.

He was exactly like he looks in film, not smaller or larger. Just Paul.

Cool.

Jamaica Jan

I hope your TiVos are warming up and have already caught the first week of all the good shows. I know I am ready with new episodes of The Office and 30 Rock and I am stoked out of my mind to watch them (when I want thanks to TiVo).

I was working at the restaurant the other day and who was at a table on the patio but Ms(?). Melora Hardin--aka Jan Levinson--aka Jamaica Jan. Well I had to find the server and take the food to the table so I had a reason to approach her. I dropped off her Cobb salad without blue cheese crumbles and told her that my TiVo was set and I was very happy to have them back and wished her a great season.

She was so very nice. She engaged me in conversation and then later asked me another question about parking and said, "thanks again for the encouragement."

Sure, Melora...no problem.

Oh and she is very beautiful. I'm down with Cougars. There...I said it!
