Gorgeous Loves Fast

I couldn't have summed it up any better than this! Well friends I have just come back from the Big City last weekend with my dad. We went up to see the International Auto Show at the Jacob Javits Center. I must tell you that I didn't really have many expectations as far as the trip or time with my dad and friends in New York. However, my time was exceptional--regardless of previous expectations. Those of you who know me understand my love of beautiful cars. As I look back on my childhood I am filled with memories of conversations with my dad about cars, working on cars, test driving cars, washing and detailing cars and asking lots of questions. My dad, being an engineer, has great knowledge of the inner-workings of engines, transmissions and other car systems. He is also fairly knowledgeable about the history of the automobile and it's rather interesting transformation from Pre-Model T to the concepts of today. Suffice to say, I had a perfect tour guide around the nearly 12,000 car, two floor showroom.

Not many of my friends get really excited about engine cutaways or low-end torque steer control. I have great friends, please hear that. They simply don't care about the bi-turbo v8 Audi S4 that I had to wipe drool off the hood from staring too long. They don't really spend time naming cars as fast as they can on road trips, or--this is my favorite--to guess cars by their headlights in my mirror when it's dark outside. I must say I'm pretty good.

I saw a Saleen S-7 which is a hand made $600,000 car. I saw Maseratis, Ferarris, Aston-Martins and other uber high-end autos. I also saw crazy concepts with small engines in each wheel where each wheel could also turn so the car could spin in an exact circle like a dog chasing it's tail. Wild! I got to sit in many cars I will only see from a distance on the roads of Charlotte and I saw some that I might actually own one day. It'd be cool to say I saw the brand new model at the auto show and then owned one. That new Ford Focus is looking HOTT!

So after 14 hours of walking around over two days and viewing, sitting in, listening to, reading about and watching demonstrations I have satiated my appetite for the time being.

Check some of the pics I shot on my flick'r and you'll see why gorgeous loves fast.....I love both.

ps: this picture was taken off the chrome backside of the new Jag-you-are XK...mmmmmmmm

Road trippin'

I love road trips. I think I have found my favorite drug. Driving at about 80 mph with sunroof opened, windows down and music up as the sun set coloring the sky, I satiated my addiction. This picture sums it up.

New Music

My two new jams as of late are Matisyahu's "Youth" and Imogen Heap's "Speak for Yourself."

Two songs I really love from "Youth" are Jerusalem and King Without a Crown. You need to read about Matisyahu's story. It's pretty crazy. His songs are based on his Hasidic Jewish religion set to the tone of neo-Marleyesque steel drums.

"Speak for Yourself," is a fantastic mix of chill and electronic. If your mother had a sweet banshee-like voice, she might be Imogen. You might recognize the voice, as I did, from Frou Frou. This group, made common through the Indie film Garden State first brought this voice to my ears. She has a way of sounding soothing but not put you to sleep. It's all the good of Enya without the la, la, la lameness. Check out Headlock and The Walk.

Both albums are best heard with windows (and sunroof if available) in the fully down and locked position while driving a bit faster than "suggested" by those speed limit signs. Best if heard while performing previously said setup at about 7p.m. while the sun is casting vibrant glows to the horizon. Please discard cares and fears, buckle up, turn it up and live it up.

Armageddon?

On Wednesday , at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00 in the morning, the time and date will be 01:02:03 04/05/06...

This has led me to believe that Jesus may in fact be coming back because I don't think it has ever been 01/02/03/04/05/06 in order before.

Enjoy your days.

You still have 2.
