...if you are bored...

I came across this site that has a bunch of really quality commercials this group called Smuggler has created. Check out the "evolution" one for Renault and "drop" for Pontiac. Actually they are all really good....oh and "stunt city" is awesome too.

Good times in Charlotte

PBA for lifeeee
Originally uploaded by Bradley Hasemeyer.
I recently went back to Charlotte for a few days while home for Christmas. It was a refreshing time to be with friends and being in a community again. I forgot how much I really left behind when I moved to L.A. and though I do not regret my move one bit, there is still much to love in Charlotte.

I decided to make a whirlwind trip having meals and coffees and bowling and late night dinners and phone conversations with as many people as I could while in Charlotte. It wore me out but was worth every minute.

There are some other pictures I posted on my flickr account that you can check out.

To my Charlotte friends specifically, thank you for reminding me how important and fun friends can be. I really needed that.

Much love and Merry Christmas.

...from 308 to lookin' great...

I don't know if you had the chance to watch the festivities tonight or the unreal-reality show finale of The Biggest Loser. It was intense. I was in the crowd with about 400 other people at the CBS studios in Hollywood (I know it's an NBC show but sometimes they will rent competing studio space).

Apparently, based on e-mails, text messages and phone calls many of you tuned in to see my friend Brian Starkey on live (on the East Coast) T.V. go from 308lbs to an unreal number of 152! He lost 156lbs. As Carolyn Rae put it, "Brian, you've lost a Brian." His percentage weight loss was at 51.64% with two more people in line. The final guy was the one we were worried about. Jaron had been a late add to the ranch and had shaken up things before. After he had originally made his entrance I was a bit concerned because he was very skinny looking.

His weigh-in happened and the final numbers had him coming up short by about 3 lbs. Brian won the largest weight loss! He won the $100,000 prize. I was screaming my head off from the back row flanked by friends and family of the Starkeys and it was just insane.

Brian would ride his bike for 2-3 hours multiple times per week while wearing a rubber suit, and a sweat suit. He'd be in the sauna sweating out water weight. He worked out cardio about 3 times per day for the last 2 months, changed his eating habits and his lifestyle. His dedication to this was far beyond what I ever imagined and is an inspiration to so many people.

I love this show. It changes lives and shows me that there is truly no excuse for being overweight if you really don't want to be. It's a new way to live....I dare say the way you were meant to live (sorry Switchfoot).

I'm fired up.

...tonight...

Well folks it is here! The Biggest Looser finale is today and airs tonight on the East Coast at 8:00p.m. Brian has lost about 3 million lbs and tonight you will see the progress he's made and see all the contestants and their families. I am telling you this because I really believe in this show and have seen it change lives. ALSO I am going to be there! I have a ticket to the show and will be in the live studio audience ready to cheer on my friend Brian to victory.

Honestly, the victory has already been won. I can't say how much weight he's lost but I know you will be shocked.

So tune in, TiVo or whatever you need to do.

See you tonight

...when in Rome...

Last Friday a spritely British chick was set to perform at the Wiltern (corner of WILshire and wesTERN--pointed out to me by M.Nash). Having purchased my tickets weeks in advance I was ripe with anticipation. A few months ago I posted my thoughts about Imogen Heap's latest album. I equated her voice with a mother, a mother with a soothing banchee voice. She has the voice of a siren (Homer's distracting women...not LA's distracting noises) and the look of a runway model with the outfit to match. Her attitude was playful yet commanding and the show was outrageous.

To truly understand the gravity of the evening you must first begin with four fairly preppy southern men and women deciding to dress as imo-indi-alternative-weird as we were comfortable with. I, in my red KangaRoos, inside-out suit coat, t-shirt, dress pants and tie with a highly-gelled faux hawk think I looked pretty spot-on for the evening. Greg, Kelly and Meghan all followed suit.

Greg, Kelly, me, Meghan

After getting dressed (including a makeup tragedy with Greg) we all went outside and tried to figure out who would drive? Then after leaving a ticket in the house, parking in the middle of the driveway so unnamed (Greg) could go get said ticket, drivingto the gas station for a little Red Bull/Rockstar energy drink combo and off we went. (side note: another great thing about LA is that no one really cared we were dressed that weird--NEVER get away with that in Char or Knoxville)

Disgruntled emo models with energy drinks strike a pose

After racing around on the interstate to the newest rap collaborations from my collection we finally arrived and parked. We walked up to what looked to be a fairly old theater, passed through the metal detectors and were frisked quite thoroughly. After throwing out our tounge rings and Greg's steel hip we entered.

The place was beautiful and we got their early enough to get good ground floor standing room. The first act was some random guy with a guitar. He was pretty good and had some neat tricks with looping different sounds and rhythms. That was merely the beginning of that machine.

The second act was insane. Kid Beyond is litterly a complete beat-box. He was simply insane. All I could do was find this video of him on YouTube to post for you because it was so wild.

He went on to use a looping machine too and made full on band-like melodies. He was simply extraordinary.

Then Imogen took the stage and performed brilliantly. One thing I really love about I.Heap is her knowledge of electronics and mastery of a number of techniques and instruments producing so many great and unique sounds and songs. Also she had the first two acts come out and perform along side her and they had such great chemistry. If you have a chance to download her music or at least listen to her in 30-second bits on iTunes music store and you'll have a frozen and microwaved taste of what me and hundreds more feasted on freshly Friday night (kudos to alliteration on that one). It was a great show and I had a great time with my friends.

I might try to rock the tie and t-shirt in K-town.

Nahhh.
