tmobile spots

Hey guys. These are the two Tmobile spots I did recently. Lots of fun. I wish there was a way to show you all the footage because we shot for 14 hours and they end up with two-30 second spots.

Anyway, good times.

...you spin me right round' baby...

Sometimes I write for a website called GearPatrol.com which is an excellent source for material for guys and about guys.

Recently I had the chance to 'test drive' some DJ equipment and wrote a review on it.

...biggest lemon...

This is the biggest lemon I have ever seen.

Oscar

I have a friend who works for the Academy and was in charge of part of the Oscars this year so she asked me if I wanted a job working the bleachers. I said yes.

In September of 08 hundreds of people submitted online for a chance to be randomly selected for attendance to the Oscars in the bleachers. Only 700 were chosen. Some flew in from England. Some lived in LA. Some had never been--then there were the "bleacher creatures" who had been there like 30 years in a row or something.

I arrived at 6:15 a.m. to get a walkie talkie, talk about logistics and grab a few doughnuts. People started arriving around 8 and my job was to usher them in. Later we provided lunch and a goodie bag with a t-shirt, sunscreen, and some bits of information.

It was pretty cool. I must say it was neat to see the curtains pulled back on the whole ordeal.

One thing that struck me as interesting was that they have strobes along the walkway out of the shot of the camera so when you see the stars walking it looks like there are tons of photographers snapping shots all the time. Not true. There is one section that has all the press photographers but that is a very small area right as they walk out onto the carpet.

Before they get to the carpet and after they get out of their car is a tent where they get 'last looks' where they are re-styled, applied and readied. Then they step out to see the camera crew.

I found that whole thing to be very interesting.

Admittedly, there were a few celebrities it was neat to see: Anne Hathaway (whom I'll be marrying in a few years), Brad and Angelina, Beyonce' and Kate Winslet.

These are few shots from the night.

...my 5 favs...

T-mobile is doing a campaign where one can win some money by submitting a video of them doing some basketball moves or something.

So for the commercial (internet only) they got 6 guys who looked like Napolean Dynamite assembled a team and none of us could actually play.

It was a blast. We shot for about 14 hours and pretty much had fun missing every shot we took, dribbling like we were amazing but really not doing anything.

At one point I was just in the middle of the pack as there was a guy giving all the lines but then the director asked me to try the lines and liked my attitude (I channeled Malibu's Most Wanted) and I was the front man for many of the little spots we did.

It's supposed to cut to a 30 second, 15 and a 5 second blip for their website. So I'll post it once I get any material from it.

Audition for 2 years without booking anything and then 2 commercials in 2 weeks. BAM.

Praise be to God!!

...my first commercial...

Well it happened. Like a flash of lightning wound around another rod of lightning. I booked my first commercial.

Some of you were notified via facebook status so this is not all news to you but I wanted to just put it out there for those of you who missed it.

It's a cable commercial which means it runs on cable and not on NBC, CBS, etc. this pays less but it still pays. It's a union gig so I am now what they call a 'must join' which reminds me that I need to call SAG (screen actor's guild) today. Anyway, so now I have the prestigious honor to pay $2,300 to be in SAG then yearly dues of like $150 or something.

SO the commercial was super easy. I auditioned, then had a call-back (2nd audition) then they put me on avail (make sure I'm available that day) and then my agent called and said, "you booked it!"

It was supposed to shoot Thursday so I had wardrobe on Wednesday. They pretty much see what clothes I'd bring, then match it up with stuff they have. Then take pictures of it. Show the client (Molson) who was there at the time. They sign off on it after talking with their advertising people and then I get the thumbs up.

Then I get a call wed night saying that my 'call time' (time to be ready to go) is at 6.30 a.m. So I leave early and get to set by about 5:30 so I could grab breakfast.

I ate, hung out in my little cabin that was one of four in this trailer. Then I got bored after a few hours and went down to set to watch what was going on.

We were shooting outside of an old grocery store in South Pasadena. When it was my time, all I had to do was walk around a car and they threw a bundled up t-shirt at me (when they cut it together it will look like Mr. Geoff Molson shot it out of a t-shirt cannon) and it hit my car and I looked up.

CUT

That's it. I mean we did 3 takes of that and 3 of a close-up and that was my day.

I stayed till lunch at their request (and wanted to get a free lunch) and then was done.

ACTUALLY, I called my agent on the way home and she set up an audition for T-Mobile for that day which I ended up booking also!!! (the above post).

So good day.
